Although hypnotherapy does involve talking and listening, it differs from counselling in that it is an 'interventionist' approach. Words are key to successful hypnotherapy. We all use words to reinforce our own behaviour, meaning and values. Hypnotherapy works with metaphors, visualisations, hypnotic and post hypnotic suggestions. A hypnotherapist listens to what a client is saying and uses words skillfully to effect positive change. More often than not, you have the knowledge of your issue. You know what you need to change. The problem is 'implementation' of the required change. I run a reliable, professional, confidential, ethical, reflective practice with the skills, knowledge and breadth to cover a wide range of issues. My role as a hypnotherapist is complementary to traditional medical practice. I continue to research the subject of hypnotherapy and am developing my knowledge in the areas of stress management, depression, motivation and work with children. I will remain affiliated to the professional bodies the National Council for Hypnotherapy, The National Council of Psychotherapists and the General Hypnotherapy Register, working at all times in accordance with their Code of Ethics. I am located in the centre of Sheffield and am happy to run sessions during lunchtime and also after 5.00pm I will help you develop awareness of your own resources, abilities, knowledge, understanding and capabilities and provide you with enabling strategies for change. Change could be represented in new ways of thinking, new ways of using language to communicate, new perceptions, changing attitudes, new ways of responding to a problem or a person, altered behaviours, increased self-understanding, increased optimism or feelings of well-being.
